New Building Project Update
Our latest project is the construction of a three-story building to provide classrooms for Grades 4-6. The new building will also accommodate a visitor reception area for the entire campus, art and computer classrooms, a "creator's room" for podcasts, YouTube video production and video editing, and the upper grade cafeteria. Initially, it will also provide classrooms for Grades 7-9 until a junior high campus is built on land we have acquired nearby. Our goal is to complete the entire outer structure all at once and then finish the interiors of the individual classrooms over time with flooring, windows, ceilings and furniture as they are needed prior to each new school year.
The process of construction is very labor intensive with the foundation being dug by hand, rather than with heavy equipment. Cement blocks are formed using a wooden mold and then are stacked to dry in the sun. Thank you to our school architect, David Richards, for returning to Senase for the third time to assist our contractor, Willie, and his workers as they pour the foundation and begin the construction.
Once completed, our school will have grown from a modest three room building in 2015 to a busy campus with over 500 students from ages 2-14. We are so grateful for the support of our donors and volunteers who have made our vision of providing quality education to students in rural Ghana a reality.
